Founded in 2009, Desh Foundation UK is a leading social entrepreneur and community organisation dedicated to empowering, supporting and celebrating the achievements of the British Bangladeshi community. Since its establishment, the Foundation has worked tirelessly to promote entrepreneurship, education, community development, cultural heritage and stronger trade and business relations between the United Kingdom and Bangladesh.

Over the years, Desh Foundation UK has organised numerous business, cultural and charitable initiatives that have positively impacted thousands of people. The organisation has become widely recognised for bringing together community leaders, entrepreneurs, professionals, government representatives and dignitaries through high-profile events that inspire collaboration, recognise excellence and encourage future generations.

One of the Foundation’s most significant achievements has been the creation of the British Bangladeshi Business Awards, which has grown into one of the most prestigious award ceremonies within the British Bangladeshi community. Since its inception, the awards have recognised and honoured more than 350 individuals and businesses for their outstanding contributions to community service and business excellence. The awards also place a particular focus on recognising Asian and British Bangladeshi restaurants and chefs for their outstanding achievements and contributions to the UK’s renowned curry industry, celebrating the sector’s vital role in Britain’s economy, culture and hospitality.

Following the successful inaugural ceremony in 2015, which welcomed then British Prime Minister David Cameron as Chief Guest, Desh Foundation UK continued to build on its success by hosting further British Bangladeshi Business Awards ceremonies in 2017 and 2019, cementing the awards’ reputation as the premier platform for celebrating British Bangladeshi achievement.

Throughout its history, Desh Foundation UK has organised a wide range of business and community events, including entrepreneurship seminars, networking programmes, cultural festivals and initiatives promoting trade and investment between the UK and Bangladesh.
